A moment of silence of silence was held in honor of Humberto Cruz, former director of the NYS AIDS Institute, who passed away recently. Humberto worked at the AI for 23 years, including 5 as director.

Ms. Beiling opened the meeting, welcoming everyone and leading a round of introductions and an icebreaker about favorite ice cream. Mr. Schoepp led the committee in a moment of silence.

Mr. Park and Mr. Lesieur opened the meeting, followed by introductions and a moment of silence in honor of Humberto Cruz, former director of the NYS AIDS Institute, who passed away last week. Ms. Edwards read a statement from the AIDS Institute, where Humberto worked for 23 years, including 5 as director.

Mr. Park led the committee in a moment of silence, acknowledging the loss of Humberto Cruz and Janet Goldberg’s husband, Andy. Ms. Simon and Mr. Carr reflected on the contributions of Umberto Cruz to ending the AIDS epidemic.

Ms. Thompson led introductions, including pronouns, and an icebreaker about spring. Mr. Park honored Humberto Cruz during the moment of silence.

Humberto was a towering figure in the HIV community, both in New York and nationally. The minutes from the March 21, 2019 meeting were approved with one change to reflect attendance.

Billy Fields, Consumers Committee Co-Chair, opened the meeting with member introductions and a reading of the Rules of Respectful Engagement, noting that Lisa Best, Co-Chair, who is unable to attend today’s meeting, but will be calling in, will be re-joining the Committee in May. Billy Fields led the group in a moment of silence in honor of those who have passed and those who continue to endure in the struggle.

Ms. Straus and Ms. Diaz opened the meeting followed by a moment of silence and introductions. The minutes of the March 13, 2019 meeting were approved with no changes. Ms. Hakim announced that the NYS AIDS Advisory Council is recruiting for members from the upper counties of the Lower Hudson.

Ms. Hudis and Mr. Baney opened the meeting, followed by introductions and a moment of silence. The minutes of the March 11, 2019 meeting were approved with no changes.

Jan Park, Governmental Co-Chair and Matthew Lesieur, Community Co-Chair, opened the meeting, followed by member introductions, noting that March is Women’s History month. Andi Straus led the group in a moment of silence in honor. The minutes from the February 21, 2019 meeting were approved, with a minor change noting that the motion to accept the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the exception of one item regarding the Planning Council Support budget. There was no public comment.
