Mr. Martin and Mr. Klotz opened the meeting followed by introductions and a roll call and a moment of silence. The minutes of the April 23, 2026 meeting were approved with no changes. Dr. Howard greeted the Council, praising their work and expressing her commitment to supporting the Council’s community planning process. She mentioned recent and upcoming Council initiatives and upcoming challenges, stressing her enthusiasm for partnering with the Council to support the best care and services for people with HIV in NYC and Tri-County.

Jeff N. and Steve H. opened the meeting and reviewed the agenda. Doienne S. conducted a roll call. Members were informed that the January Integration of Care Committee minutes had been circulated in advance. No corrections noted, and hence approved. A moment of silence was held led by John S. During announcements and early discussion, committee members shared resources and updates (https://indivisible.org/events/may-day-strong-no-work-no-school-no-shopping/), including community advocacy efforts and events (https://www.abilities.com/new-York). A moment of solidarity was expressed for a community member experiencing immigration-related challenges, with members affirming their collective support and commitment to community care and advocacy.

LaShonda Cyrus and Julian Palmer opened the meeting with a roll call of members followed by a moment of silence. The minutes for the April 8th 2026, meeting were approved with no changes. During Announcements, Laura M.A. invited members to attend the upcoming Needs Assessment Committee meeting, Thursday, May 13th from 2-4p to learn about Long COVID and HIV. Doienne S. invited members to attend the upcoming Integration of Care Committee meeting, Wednesday, May 20th from 10-12p to learn about CHAIN’s latest report on digital health utilization among NYC PWH. Doienne S. also shared registration and scholarship information on the 2026 United States Conference on HIV/AIDS, September 17th- 20th.

Rasheed Ford opened the meeting with an icebreaker where participants would respond to the question: “Where are you finding joy these days?” Participants shared their responses in the chat, citing family, pets, cooking, learning, art, nature, and hobbies as their sources of joy. During announcements Raffi B. proposed sharing a proposal at the end of the meeting. Marcy S. announced a HRSA-funded demonstration project focusing on newly diagnosed individuals living with HIV with an approach on social determinants of health and mental health needs. Billy F. facilitated the moment of silence, reflecting on those affected by HIV, those who have passed, and the challenges faced by individuals living with HIV in the current climate. During announcements, Billy F. and Doienne S. shared insights from a recent webinar on narrative medicine, emphasizing the importance of connecting with patients on a personal level. The webinar recording will be shared with members.
