Please find an updated and slimmed down resource guide below. We want to encourage you to continue to stay safe as NYC experiences spikes of COVID-19.

For People with HIV (in NYC and Tri-County) experiencing financial strain – if you qualify for Ryan White Part A services (income of 500% or less of the federal poverty level) you can access Emergency Financial Assistance. Talk to your case manager or call/email:

2020 General Election Early Voting Period in New York State: Sat., Oct. 24, 2020 –Sun., Nov. 1, 2020

REGISTER TO VOTE AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME!

Register IN PERSON: Register at your county Board of Elections (BOE) or state-authorized voter registration centers.* Applications must be received by Oct. 9, 2020.

Register BY MAIL: Mail or personally deliver to your county BOE a completed voter registration form.** Applications must be postmarked by Oct. 9, 2020 and received by Oct. 14, 2020.

VoteBY MAIL: Apply for an absentee ballot by Oct. 27, 2020, at https://nycabsentee.com/or by contacting your county Board of Election (BOE) in person or by email, phone, fax, or mail; you have until Nov. 2, 2020 to apply in person. If you are affected by COVID-19 and/or the potential of contracting the virus, check the “temporary illness or physical disability” box on the application. The definition has been temporarily expanded to include “a risk of contracting or spreading a disease” such as COVID-19.

List of Providers Offering Free Wi-Fi or Special Accommodations for 60 Days

Free or low cost desktop and laptop computers with unlimited 4G Wireless WiFi service for $15 month for anyone earning 200% below the federal poverty level and enrolled in a government program. Follow the link for more information https://www.pcsforpeople.org

Discounted Internet Service for Low-Income Families:

    • Comcast is offering discounted internet service to low-income families, with free service for 60 days, for new customers who apply and are approved by December 31, 2020. Visit Comcast or call 1-855-846-8376 (English); 1-855-765-6995 (Spanish).
    • AT&T offers a discounted service for income-limited households or those who qualify for the National School Lunch Program or Head Start. Visit Access from AT&T for more information.
    • Spectrum offers a discounted internet plan for qualified households who are also in receipt of assistance through the National School Lunch Program or Supplemental Security Income (for applicants age 65 and older only). Visit Spectrum Internet Assist to learn more.

Income-based free cell phone and airtime: SafeLink Wireless is a government supported program that provides a free cell phone and airtime each month for income-eligible customers. A private company provides the service. It is not connected to any New York City agency. Follow this link for more information about the program.

Cell Phone Providers: Numerous cell phone companies have signed the “Keep Americans Connected Pledge” and are agreeing to stop service termination and waive late fees for families experiencing financial hardship. You can contact your carrier for more information.
